Making a referral / seeking advice

CCGs provide services for children registered with GPs relating to that CCG. Local authorities provide services for those residents within their boundaries.

If a GP wants to refer a child to children's social care, they need to refer to the service serving the area where the child resides. If a GP wishes to seek advice from a local named GP or designated professional, they should contact the professional representing the CCG to which the practice is linked.

Each Safeguarding Children Partnership has its own portal within the site above, which provides a 'gateway' to the shared Safeguarding Children procedures for the Partnerships.

Note: Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire have come together to create the Berkshire West Safeguarding Children Partnership and share a logo. You should still access the procedures through the portal for your local area for example Berkshire West Safeguarding Children Partnership (in Reading).

In addition to the shared procedures you can also access local guidance for your area by clicking on the local information section within the procedure.

Early Help Hubs

Hampshire has ten early help hubs.  Each hub meets on a weekly basis to coordinate the multi-agency response for families with complex needs who do not meet the threshold for statutory social care.

The Early Help Checklist  is designed to help practitioners decide whether the early help assessment would be useful to help them to support the family.

The Early Help Parent/Carer leaflet  helps explain the role of early help and what can be expected.

All enquiries regarding accessing early help hub services should be made via Hantsdirect 0300 555 1384

The Family Information and Services Hub is where you will find information about what is going on in your area, details on how families can access services, organisations and activities in Hampshire, and the advice and support that’s available.
